This is an annual NRA sanctioned competition and only Southport Gun Club has the appropriate turning targets in the state of Wisconsin to be able to sponsor such an event. The Sectional is comprised of four shooting matches and a fifth match for total score aggregate. Three of the matches, Slow, Timed and Rapid-fire exercises, include two targets each. The fourth match is called a Gallery or NMC (National Match Course) and consists of one each Slow, Timed and Rapid-fire targets. Ten shots are fired at each target for a total of 90 rounds. Although some prefer revolvers, nearly all shooters now use semi-auto pistols and illusion (red dot) type sites. Competitors must be NRA classified and shoot against others of the same classification; Marksman, Sharpshooter, Expert and Master. Awards are presented to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place shooters.
More than 80 people participated
in this year's competition. For membership information or for more information about this and other events held at the club, contact us at
