Welcome to the new Southport web site!

Welcome to the new Southport Masters web site!

The information from the previous version has been brought over here and organized as well as updated.  If you think that things that should be here are missing let me know and I’ll see about getting it here.

When you register you’ll be able to post content you feel would be useful and relevant to the club and to gun owners in general.  There’s an archive of posts so you can always go back and see things you may have missed.

Have a look around to get familiar with the new layout and organization of information.  It’s a big difference from how the site looked and functioned in the past but it’s also a huge improvement on our ability to get out interesting and timely information as well as keep club members informed.

NRA Basic classes offered by and for SouthPort members and the General Public

Posted By SteveP on June 19, 2009

To any member that wants to receive their NRA instructor training now is the time to act. I, along with my partner Lynn, are teaching the basic NRA classes at Gander Mountain in Kenosha. Please look at our calendar for scheduling.

We teach the Basic classes: Home Firearm Safety, Pistol and Rifle, You will find out what is involved in teaching the curriculum and how to get students involved in the class as well as a plan to get them the information that they will need to pass the class.

There is a great discount that Lynn and I have set up for Southport members and their families. This is also a great opportunity for Southport Members that need to keep their credentials up to date. We teach the NRA course and are always looking for members with certification to help out teaching these courses. This is a chance to be involved in instruction of the courses that you need to keep your certification up to date.

I would like to thank Jerry B. for his time and efforts in helping teach these courses. We limit the size of the classes so that the students get individual attention.

If you are interested in any of the classes, they are posted on the calendar. Please contact me

Winter League Award Dinner Info

Posted By SteveP on April 30, 2009

This winter’s center fire league is over and let’s hope that winter itself is also over.

THANK YOU ALL for making this another great league. We have had a lot of fun and the new three division breakout seemed to encourage people to improve and see how they measured up against shooters of similar ability.

Several people achieved perfect stage scores this league.  We’ll be giving them special acknowledgement for this at the award dinner.

We are scheduling the award dinner at the local VFW Post on Sunday, May 17.  Social hour will be around 6:00pm (18:00 for those military time types) and dinner at 6:30pm (18:30).

Members and non-members alike should think about being involved in the 12 week fall leagues that start up in September.  We’ll be posting reminders here and at the club as we get closer to the start dates.

The .22 caliber 900 point league is usually shot Monday to Wednesday and then on Fridays.

The .22 caliber rifle league shoots on Thursday nights.

Thanks again to everyone who made these leagues fun and successful.
